Cheddleton Flint Mill
Either a walk along the canal or a quick bus trip will get us to the Cheddleton Flint Mill for a fascinating look at how water was used to grind flint for the local pottery industry. Before flint, the mill was used to grind corn as far back as 1694.
Now a museum, much of the old buildings have been preserved and still contain working machinery. A walk back along the canal would follow the route that narrowboats used to take to transport the ground flint into the Potteries.
