Tree Study
With such a diversity of trees on site ranging from old oaks (one over 300 years) and horse chestnuts to elder, ash and hornbeam, Stanley Head lends itself perfectly to studying trees.
We will look at the different shapes, sizes, types of leaf and bark, as well as the fruit and flowers. Why do horse chestnut fruits have spiky cases? Why do sycamore seeds have wings? Can you tell which direction is south just from looking at a tree? We have all the answers for you!
